Consultant - Business Data Analyst
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Business Data Analyst with expertise in Biotech R&D data and applications. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in transforming complex data into actionable insights that support decision-making processes in biotech research and development. This position requires a deep understanding of biotech R&D data, bioinformatical sciences, pharmacological sciences, and histology data and applications, and the ability to translate business needs into data-driven solutions. The Business Data Analyst will work closely with R&D, IT, and business teams to ensure that data is accurately captured, analyzed, and utilized to drive innovation and efficiency.
The Business Data Analyst is expected to work on-site at least 4 days a week at Voyager’s Lexington, MA office location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with IT and R&D teams to ensure accurate data collection, storage, and integration across various platforms and applications.
- Work with Business Owners to analyze complex biotech R&D data and systems and document requirements for new IT solutions.
- Work with Voyager IT and MSP partners to develop and maintain system integrations, dashboards, reports, and visualizations to present data findings to stakeholders.
- Work with Business Owners to understand statistical methods and data mining techniques used to extract actionable insights from large datasets and implement a Solution with help from Voyager IT and MSP partners.
- Implement and maintain data management processes, including data quality checks, data cleansing, and data governance.
- Ensure that all data-related activities comply with Voyager standards
- Provide support and expertise in the use of bioinformatics and biotech R&D applications, including LIMS, ELN, and data analysis tools.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to understand their data needs and optimize the use of existing applications.
- Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new data tools and applications that enhance research capabilities.
- Design and implement business intelligence solutions that align with R&D objectives and business goals.
- Create and automate reports that track key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to biotech research.
- Conduct ad hoc analyses as required by business leaders and R&D teams.
- Serve as a liaison between R&D, IT, and business teams to ensure alignment on data-related initiatives.
- Facilitate communication and understanding of data-driven insights among non-technical stakeholders.
- Participate in cross-functional projects that involve data analysis and contribute to strategic planning.
- Project Management:
- Lead or support data-related projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and meet business requirements.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to gather requirements, define project scope, and manage project timelines.
- Provide regular updates on project progress to management and other stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Advanced degree or certifications in Data Analytics, Bioinformatics, or Biotechnology is a plus.
- Experience:
- 10 years of experience as a Data Analyst or Business Analyst, preferably in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.
- Proven experience in handling and analyzing biotech R&D data, including genomic, proteomic, and clinical trial data.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools, databases, and R&D applications (e.g., LIMS, ELN).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, or SAS.
- Experience with data visualization tools like JMP, Spotfire, Power BI, or Qlik.
- Strong understanding of data management and data governance principles.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and their data services.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical data into business insights.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance in the biotech industry (e.g., FDA, EMA) is preferred.
