HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO:
The IT Asset Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end management of IT assets and stock within the organization. This includes maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring optimal stock levels, managing asset lifecycles, and coordinating with procurement, IT, and finance teams to support business operations. The role requires strong analytical, organizational, and vendor management skills to ensure efficient inventory control and compliance with internal policies.
Inventory Management & Auditing
- Perform weekly inventory validation and audits to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Utilize the IT Asset Management (ITAM) system (Cherwell) for real-time and precise inventory record keeping.
- Monitor and analyze stock levels to prevent overstock or shortages.
- Implement reorder alerts and define safety stock thresholds to maintain service continuity.
- Conduct regular audits to identify discrepancies and initiate corrective actions.
- Prepare and present inventory reports and dashboards to management and project managers for decision making.
Procurement & Supplier Coordination
- Review purchase orders (POs) for accuracy and ensure timely receipt of IT stock.
- Verify shipments against POs, reconcile discrepancies, and update records accordingly.
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors for efficient order fulfillment.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to source IT assets aligned with business and technical needs.
- Provide timely updates on stock availability, procurement timelines, and potential risks to stakeholders.
- Manage end-of-life (EOL) assets, ensuring secure data destruction and environmentally responsible disposal practices.
- Oversee offboarding processes, including asset retrieval, data wiping, and reassignment.
- Coordinate with IT support teams for deployment, maintenance, and replacement of IT assets.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for inventory and stock management processes.
- Ensure compliance with ITAM and organizational policies.
- Provide training and guidance to team members and internal users on inventory management systems and best practices.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, procurement, finance, and end-user teams to support operational efficiency.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, IT, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in inventory or asset management, preferably in an IT environment.
- Proficiency in IT Asset Management tools (e.g., Cherwell, ServiceNow, or equivalent).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of procurement and asset lifecycle management processes.
- Familiarity with data destruction standards and environmental disposal compliance.
- Ability to analyze trends, identify risks, and propose process improvements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in a corporate IT environment or managed services provider (MSP) setup.
- Certification in ITIL, ITAM, or Supply Chain Management.
- Advanced Excel or reporting tool proficiency for data analysis and visualization.

LOCATION: This is a long-term full-time on-site role based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

- A competitive pay range of $40 - $45/hr (depending on experience).
- 10 days per year of Paid Time Off (PTO).
